We hope you will join us to kick off the MCHS 2019 Fall Play season beginning with The Beaux Stratagem at the West Campus Theatre. See below for a synopsis of the show and characters provided by our director Mr. Hillier.

We Look Forward To Seeing You There!

The play tells the story of two young men who, having spent all their money by living too well, leave London and roam from town to town in search of love and fortune. In order to find a wealthy heiress for at least one of them, they pose as master and servant – exchanging roles from one town to the next. In Lichfield, Aimwell (Jonny Krug, W12) is the master and Archer (Nathan Bodecker, E12) the servant, and there they meet the lovely, wealthy Dorinda (McKenzie Scott, 11W) and her equally desirable sister-in-law, Mrs. Sullen (Kylee O’Brien, W12). They set their caps for these women, but problems abound. Mrs. Sullen is married to a drunken sot (David Henry, 11W) who despises her; the innkeeper (Chase Gray, 9E)’s saucy daughter, Cherry (Kennedi Lucas, 11W), has set her cap for Archer; Dorinda’s mother-in-law, Lady Bountiful (Anna Knecht, 12W), mistakenly believes herself to be a great healer of the sick, and she guards her son like a dragoness; and a band of brigands (Riley Butler, 9W, Carissa Hudson, 10W, and Megan Walsh 12E) plans to rob the house of Lady Bountiful that very night, putting all schemes in jeopardy. This is a play in the great tradition of Goldsmith’s She Stoops to Conquer and Sheridan’s The Rivals and The School for Scandal. It is classic, formal, robust and hilarious.

Additional cast members include: Matt Taylor (11E), Orian Roman (11E), Vaughan McMillan (11W), Chad Norizan (11W), Irene Guirao (11E), and Kati Howk (12E).

National Concert Band Festival – 2020

A note from Mr. Hile regarding the incredible achievement of MCHS Symphonic Band:

Through a competitive audition process the McHenry HS Symphonic Band is one of sixteen bands from across the country to be invited to perform on the featured stage of the 2020 National Concert Band Festival. No bands from McHenry County have ever performed at this festival. Performing at the National Concert Band Festival is equivalent to a high school athletic team competing at a national level. This is a great achievement for the McHenry band program, and it is a prestigious honor for the McHenry community to be represented and recognized at a national level. Performing at the National Concert Band Festival is a large financial undertaking and requires significant fundraising in order to allow all of the fifty-five students in Symphonic Band to participate. Many of our students require financial support and we are currently trying to raise at least $15,000 to provide adequate financial support for our students. Thank you for your help in making this event a reality for our students and families!
